Pro Tools Version 8 on the Horizon Print E-mail

They have done it again! Digidesign never seizes to amaze me.

So I’m writing this blog to let everyone know that if you have considered taking a class on Pro Tools Artistry, this couldn’t be a better time!

Digidesign as always, focuses on making this software more customizable for everyone’s needs. Each year I have the privilege of going to San Francisco and sitting in a room with other fellow instructors from all over the world and discussing the new features and upcoming releases.

One of my favorite parts of this annual visit is when suggestions are made on the software. The reason I’m saying this is because after looking at the new version I see so many of the request that all the instructors suggest come to life.

For example, the new midi editing features are everything I’ve ever wanted in a sequencer. We now will able to “split note” which is really cool for editing to grid. Also there is now an indicator for the infamous “N” key (insertion follows playback preference) to let the user know if the preference is on/off. The overall look is different but customizable for different vibes.

The modes have been enhanced for more creative workflows while editing; like combining shuffle/Grid mode. (Very nice) Zooming amplitude now has a very clever slide bar. (Unless your old school and still want to use a quick key (option-command-left/right bracket) Also, enhancement in “playlist” recording/editing techniques for comping. I’m very excited to get into all the cool new things that version 8 has to offer. However, I want everyone to know that suggestively; learning Pro tools is the same no matter what version you dive into. Always know that the software remains the same, it just keeps getting better. Promedia can help you with the transition of this new release. Keep in mind that at ProMedia we are always up to speed on the new releases ahead of time and if you choose to take a class before it’s officially in the curriculum we have you covered.

The transition will be painless.

Have fun creating…
