Have you ever wished there was a shortcut for a menu in Pro Tools that doesn’t exist? Tired of dragging your mouse up to the menus, dragging down and across? Not very efficient considering all the other shortcuts built into Pro Tools 8(currently 43 pages). It’s been a while since using this long lost apple feature, so what better time to re-discover it. Creating your own shortcuts is quite an easy process, so follow along, and have fun creating your own shortcuts. Step 1:Go to your System Preferences, and click on Keyboard & Mouse.
Step 2:Click the Keyboard Shortcuts Tab, and click the Plus (+) towards the bottom left corner.
Step 3:Choose your application to create a shortcut for. Click on (Other…) at the bottom of the list to choose Pro Tools. This will show up in the list, without choosing (Other…) from here on.
Step 4:Type the menu exactly as it appears, including caps.
Step 5:Type the desired shortcut keys, and then click (Add) Your new shortcut will now show up in the list, and also inside of your application. I have used this feature for many desired shortcuts in the past, many of which now have shortcuts, such as Bounce to disk, Save Copy, Import Session Data, etc. This has been an apple feature for quite some time now, but for those new to it, enjoy!
