DJing with Computers

When I started djing 18 years ago I had know idea that I would be able to write a blog about the endless opportunities available to us as professional/ hobbiest  djing today. When I started it was all about vinyl records, dj mixers, amplifiers and PA systems.

Today it’s a laptop, software and controllers. No more lugging crates of records or cd`s.its all accesable at your fingertips allowing you to access a much larger library of music and to instantly try out your studio productions without having to burn cd`s or press vinyl.

The reason I think its important for dj`s to know whats available to them. Is that they can integrate studio techniques seamlessly with there dj performances. The main focus of this blog is to introduce a couple of different solutions for dj software and controllers.

This technology allows you to not only be more creative in the studio but to take the studio creations to the club with style and performance. Basically the entire dj experience has changed. All you need now is to pick a dj software and controller and you’re in business.

Serato and Torq are my personal favorites. Basically what this software hardware allows me to do is access my music library, load a song into player 1 or 2 and control pitch and blending with a controller. These new controllers allow me to show up at a gig and plug in and play with no hassles for setup. Other key features are looping, selectable cue points and FX.

I’ve compiled a few videos to introduce a few different solutions for price point and needs.
